Thanksgiving Day 2011 at the Christmas Tree Farm
Hey y’all! I’m Whitney and I am a first-time mom to a beautiful baby girl! She is such a blessing to my husband and I. Let’s back track for a few, shall we? My (now) husband and I met in the summer of 2006 at the apartment of our mutual friends. It was an instant attraction for both of us! He was an active duty soldier in the United States Army and was home on leave. At the time, he was stationed in Fort Polk, LA which is nearly 12 hours away from our home town.
We spent the rest of his time home together and when the day came for him to go back to Ft. Polk, we decided to “give it a shot.” 16 months and a deployment to Afghanistan later, he popped the question and I said YES. Six days after that? We were married. Yes, you read that right 
. Actually, our “small” wedding was planned before he actually popped the question. He was gearing up for his second deployment (and yes, it was his second one in the same year) and we wanted to be married before he left. That was October 2007. We spent a few days together before he headed back to Louisiana and then to Iraq. The first 13 months of our marriage were spent apart, but we’re stronger for it! I moved to Louisiana for the 4 months following his return before he got out of active duty. We moved back to our home town, had our first child in August of 2010 and the rest is history!
