Belly Dance Maternity

Belly Dance MaternityI’m just going to put this out there. I am 25 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and I have stretch marks. Lots of them. Mainly just on my stomach and love-handle regions, but they are very, very noticeable. While I know that Kynlee was well worth every single stretch mark I have, I still feel self-conscious about them and hate the way they look. With that said, I’ve tried a lot of stretch mark prevention and treatment options. Most of them did not provide the results I was hoping for, if any at all. When it was suggested that I review the Basq Calm Lavender Body Oil and the Basq Nyc Advanced Stretch Mark Butter from Belly Dance Maternity, I was a bit skeptical at first but decided to give it a try.

stretch mark treatment

Let’s start with the Basq Calm Lavender Body Oil. I was totally expecting this product to be super greasy and messy. It’s not. Don’t get me wrong…you’ll definitely want to wash your hands after applying it, but it washes right off and doesn’t leave that slippery, yucky, greasy residue feeling behind (like so many other body oils tend to do!). This particular body oil also comes in the Eucalyptus Spa and Grapefruit Citrus scents. I’m sure those are great, too, but I really love the relaxation I feel after using the Lavender Pear scent. At just 2 oz. it doesn’t seem like it would last that long but I’ve been using it for around 3 weeks now and there’s still some left. I imagine that it will last around a month, give or take a few days, when used as directed – twice daily. (Note: The picture below represents the amount used after only a handful of uses).

The Basq Nyc Advanced Stretch Mark Butter is just as wonderful as the body oil, in my opinion. I love using the two together because it makes my skin feel so smooth and refreshed! This product has been shown to visibly reduce the appearance of stretch marks and promote healing for the skin. You can use it on any of your troubled areas, whether that’s on your stomach, chest, hips, thighs, or even your lower back. It’s blended with Shea and Jojoba butters to give a creamy & rich nourishment to your stretched skin, and Rosehip and Grapseed Oil work together with the skin’s natural hydration to absorb deeply. It truly is as wonderful as it sounds! The aroma and feel of this butter when mixed with the body oil is just heavenly!

After right at 3 weeks of use, I can tell a difference, though it’s not a big difference yet. Overall my skin on the troubled areas (stomach and love handles) feels much smoother and I haven’t had any new stretch marks appear, so that’s a plus! I’ll be sure to update again after I’ve used it for a while, but I would definitely recommend both of these just off of my experience thus far. Belly Dance Maternity also offers other skin care items, as well as all types of maternity and nursing clothing (including lingerie!), swimwear, baby items, and gifts! Be sure to check them out and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, or their blog!
